If there’s one date every Hogsback local has circled on the calendar, it’s Christmas in July. It’s the village’s longest-running and best-supported annual event, and it turns misty midwinter Hogsback into a proper festive village for a long weekend — think log fires, mulled wine, and jerseys instead of jandals.
This year’s celebration ran from 24 to 26 July, and if you missed it, it’s worth planning around for next winter. The weekend typically includes:
- The Winter Quest — a free, interactive treasure hunt with a village map
- Live music around the village through the weekend
- Whisky, wine and cheese tastings
- Market stalls and dinner dances
- Competitions for kids and adults — including the Chill Dip Competition
- Workshops and mountain activities for the weekend
A word to the wise: locals say some visitors book their Christmas in July accommodation almost a year ahead. If a misty mountain Christmas sounds like your kind of weekend, get in touch with us early to lock in your cottage.
