Getting here
Hogsback is in the Amatola Mountains, Eastern Cape. Please leave home early to avoid driving at dusk, and watch out for potholes and goats on the road.

From Johannesburg / Pretoria / Bloemfontein
From the R67, it’s highly recommended that you take the longer Fort Beaufort (KwaMaqoma) and Alice (Dikeni) tar road (R63), entering Hogsback from the south-west. Best to avoid the smaller gravel roads like through Cathcart and Whittlesea, even though they seem more direct.
From Cape Town
Drive through Fort Beaufort (KwaMaqoma) and Alice (Dikeni) for tar road access to Hogsback.
From Durban
Take the N2 and R63 through Bisho and Qonce (King William’s Town).
From East London
We recommend the route to Hogsback through Qonce.
