A “Jewel of Hogsback” – Maylodge Country Cottages boasts tranquil park-like surrounds for folk who wish to be far from the madding crowd. Our gardens are a show throughout the four distinct seasons.
We offer six well equipped self-catering dwellings featuring comfort and privacy, accommodating from two to eight guests – ideal for couples, families and larger groups.
We are situated in the heart of the village within walking distance of a number of restaurants, pubs and hiking trails. There are a variety of activities in Hogsback one can enjoy, such as hiking, cycling, birding, restaurants and intimate pubs. In addition, there are several galleries and exhibitions, offering a range of items from paintings, photographs, pottery and other crafts. The Saturday morning market provides an opportunity to meet and mingle with many of the locals.
Hogsback is situated in the Amathole Mountain range, and is part of the Amathole Mountain Escape.
Maylodge, in Hogsback, Eastern Cape, has six free-standing cottages spread in a park-like 4 ha garden, all of which provide comfortable, private self-catering accommodation. Each cottage is equipped with a commercial DSTV viewing package.
The cottages allow you to enjoy the warmth of real fireplaces and each has a portable braai. Our emphasis is on comfortable family accommodation.
Owl Cottage
Owl is a popular cosy cottage comprising one large, comfortable bedroom with bathroom en-suite. Ideal for a couple.
Rate for the cottage: R970 per night
Loerie
This cottage is private, with a lovely view overlooking the garden. It is warm and comfortable, comprising two bedrooms and one bathroom, accommodating 4.
Rate for the cottage: R1 200 per night.
Sunbird
Sunbird is a favourite. It comprises two bedrooms, both with bathroom en-suite, accommodating 4.
Rate for the cottage: R1 400 per night.
Hoopoe
Hoopoe comprises two double bedrooms both with bathroom en-suite and a sunroom with 3 single beds, accommodating 7 in total. It features a great living area and spacious verandah.
Rate for the cottage: R1 900 per night.
Hadeda
Hadeda comprises three family-sized bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, accommodating 7 comfortably. It is exceptionally private.
Rate for the cottage: R2 300 per night
Heron House
Heron House is a large family cottage comprising three double bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom. The upstairs room has an additional two single beds, suited for a family. Heron House accommodates up to 8 people. The open-plan lounge is ideal for convivial evenings around a large fireplace.
Rate for the cottage: R2 900 per night.
